The best long-term investment we can make in the future of our state is in expanded early childhood education. Chuck's highest priority will be expanding preschool programs so that every kid has the opportunity to start kindergarten prepared to learn.
If expanding preschool is our best long-term investment, our best short-term investment is expanded training for skilled jobs. By working with community colleges, employers, and high schools, we can gear up job training programs and give Nebraskans the opportunity to acquire the skills they need to succeed in the 21st century.
Finally, we have to keep our University strong -- it's the most important public institution in our state. Research at the Medical Center is creating new ways to improve our health and economy, UNO is expanding its service to the metropolitan community, and UNK has built excellence in teaching. As a former Regent, Chuck is committed to making higher education a priority and keeping it affordable and accessible.
